Welcome! You're currently at the Lipizzaner Guild of Sheezy Art. Our goal is to educate the general equine (and non-equine) public about Lipizzaners and to provide a gallery of beautiful Lipizzaner artwork!

::About the breed

They have been called the dancing white stallions. This title isn't merely a jest of pride; it is a well earned world-known accomplishment of grace and beauty. The Lipizzaner, also known as the Lipizzan, is one of the oldest breeds known to humankind, and descended from nine studs, including some of Arabian blood. Lipizzaners used to be used as war horses; this is where the haute e'cole (airs above the ground) comes from. The breed is trained for three special military maneuvers: the levade, the courbette, and the capriole.

A levade is simply an extremely controlled rear where the horse must keep a forty-five degree angle with the ground. From the levade, a horse springs up and hops on his hind legs while keeping the forelegs together, performing a courbette. In battle this was used to break through infantry lines while keeping the rider safe. Lastly, the capriole is when the stallion leaps into the air and kicks out viciously with his hind legs. While also scaring away approaching footmen, the horse's hooves would kill anyone unfortunate enough to be standing behind the team.

In modern times the Lipizzaner is used for advanced dressage, not cavalry. They are Vienna's prized attraction at the Spanish Riding School. Tourists from all over the world flock to see the majestic stallions dance their way to brilliance.

For a fuller history, I will be writing a report type thing and posting it in the gallery. A link in the journal will be provided when this happens. Also, if I missed anything important please let me know.

::Rules

+ ABSOLUTLY NO FAVING IN THE GUILD'S GALLERY. If you didn't get the point, that means don't fav in the guild's gallery. It pisses me off and I will NOT be happy. You will get one warning and if it happens again I'll do something of justice.
+ Show respect.
+ I suppose I'll be tacky like everyone else and say: have fun!

::Joining

+ Send a message to the guild with the subject: "Joining". I will add your name to the list as soon as I get the chance. Commenting will get you no where. If I do see it, I will ignore it.
+ I ask that you put our avatar in your journal or signature, but it's not a requirement.
+ If I invite you this does not mean that you must join or die. It means that I thought (by your gallery or other club memberships) that you would be interested in joining the Lipizzaner Guild. Simply respond with a "no, but thank you for the offer."

::Submitting

+ The work must be yours, in whole or as a collaboration. Photo manipulations using non-stolen pictures are accepted.
+ Every art medium is accepted, so don't be shy!
+ Send a message to the club with the subject "SUBMIT". Inside, include the link to the original and if you would like constructive critiques to improve (if yes, please specify if you'd like critiques by the general public or more detailed ones by a staff member).
+ Only submit LIPIZZANER art. It cannot simply be a picture of a white horse; I can tell the difference. This is also not the Spanish breed club. Don't try submitting Andalusians or Lustanios.
+ 'Lipizzaner art' includes anything about the Lipizzaner. It can be their tack, the Riding School, one of their riders, you get the point.
+ All levels of expertise are accepted unless it makes me barf. In these rare scenarios, I apologize now.

I won't be hiring moderators until the guild is too large to handle by myself, which I doubt will ever happen.

To apply simply send the guild a note with the subject "applying for staff" and inside tell me which you want to do. I'll test you if I must and fill you in with what you have to do. You may apply for more than one position.
